A Custom Error 404 page is a must.

I recently studied the site statistics for a new customer who had an existing site, to find that amongst other things they were loosing over 400 hits / potential visitors per month because they did not correctly handle their errors.

All the visitor saw when they miss spelt the page name they intended to visit was the dreaded “Error 404 Page Not Found”

Home Business’s

This not only looks unproffessional but could also be the only reason the visitor needs to leave you site without even seeing your products or services.

Along with displaying the Custom page, the actual erroneous page name that they tried to visit, should be recorded and viewed on a regular basis so that corrective action can be done where necessary.
